ST PHILIP'S NURSING SCHOOL AND THE TRAUMA EDUCATION

PROJECT

St Philip's Nursing School in Bulawayo is officially up and running! The advanced nursing school, the only one of its kind in Matabeleland, is based in a former convent that was donated by the Catholic Diocese of Matabeleland. The school has the capacity to house up to 65 nursing students, as well as has a secure enclosed building with lecture theaters, a kitchen, a dining room, and a library.

The Zimbabwe Medical Project partnered with the Rotary Club of Knoxville, Tennessee, their partner club in Zimbabwe, Rotary Club of Bulawayo South, and the Rotary Foundation to provide seed funding to establish this desperately needed advanced nursing school in Bulawayo.

Courses in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) were taught by teams from the United States and South Africa to inaugurate the new nursing school.

Thank you to the Rotary clubs for this exciting new establishment!
